It said the goods were seized along the border and port corridors within the Southwest Zone.

Briefing newsmen on the activities of the unit, the Acting Controller in charge of FOU Zone A, Hussein Kehinde Ejibunu, said the cumulative revenue recovery within the period under review is N42,320,098.00.

Ejibunu noted that the amount would have been lost to individuals, if not for the diligent and meticulous documentary checks by officers of this unit.

He said smuggling compromises national security, robs the nation of its revenue, which consequently affects the provision of basic amenities and social services to the citizens, and that it can also destroy the health of citizens through the importation of expired, fake, and other illicit drugs.
