Customs kills suspected smuggler in Kebbi

A suspected smuggler, identified as Abdulraham Sani, was on Tuesday killed in an altercation with the operatives of the Nigeria Custom Service (NCS).

The incident happened along Kamba border post in Kebbi State.

The suspected smuggler, who was a son of the village head of Budi, Alhaji Sani Muhammad in Bunza Local Government Area, was reportedly shot dead.

A resident of Bunza, Alhaji Sahabi Chindo, told Journalists that the victim was killed after a misunderstanding with the personnel of the service, who intercepted some vehicles alleged to be carrying some contrabands belonging to some youths from Bunza area.

His death led to violent protest by some youths in the area.

Contacted, the spokesperson of Federal Operation Unit Zone B Kaduna of Nigeria Custom Service, Mailafiya Magaji, said he was yet to be briefed on the incident.
