The Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone B has intercepted 72 bags of cannabis Sativa, popularly known as marijuana, concealed in cassava flour (garri) sacks along Sokoto-Zamfara axis.
The Zone B comptroller of customs, Albashir Hamisu, while handing over the sacks of hemp to NDLEA officers in Kaduna, said the arrest was a major breakthrough in the fight against banditry in the region.
According to him, the items were believed to belong to bandits terrorising people in the North West states.
“The operatives of the Unit, with the aid of informant, intercepted the marijuana.

“The marijuana would be handed over to the commandant, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Kaduna State Command, in the spirit of inter-agency collaboration for further investigation,” he said.
The comptroller further explained that FOU Zone B had seized items worth over N2 billion this year, and that in 2021 it made seizures worth over N1.3 billion.
In his response, the representative of the NDLEA, Haruna Usman Danga, described the feat as remarkable, adding that the interagency collaboration was yielding positive results.
