Customs intercepts 12 trucks of rice, petrol

The Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone A, of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has said it intercepted 7,400 bags of rice in the South West in the last one month.

It also said it intercepted 53,759 litres of petrol from smugglers who were about transporting the product to neighbouring Republic of Benin.

The acting Controller of FOU Zone A, Hussein Kehinde Ejibunu, who made this disclosure, said unrepentant economic saboteurs decided to engage themselves in the unwholesome act.

He said, “Let me remind you that smuggling in whatever guise or form is an illegal activity that constitutes a crime against customs extant laws.”
