The Kebbi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted 94 jumbo sacks containing skins of 2,820 donkeys that were killed and packaged for smuggling overseas.

The Controller of the Area Command, Comptroller Joseph Attah, disclosed this on Friday while handing over the seizure to the officials of the Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Service (NAQS) for onward disposal in Birnin Kebbi.

He said the feat was achieved following intelligence gathered by members of the Command’s Rapid Response Team.

He noted that the cost of the donkeys, which are now endangered, could be put at N48.1 million, adding that the smartly arranged skins were seized in Bahindi – Dogon Rimi Waterside in Bagudo Local Government Area of the state.
