Customs hands over 253kg hemp to NDLEA in Niger

The Niger/Kogi Command of the Nigeria Customs Service on Tuesday handed over 253.6kg of hemp to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Niger State.

Handing over the drug, the Area Comptroller of Niger/Kogi Area Command, Busayo Oluwagbemiga Kadejo, said 317 packages of the illicit items were intercepted along the Abuja-Lokoja highway during a patrol by officers of the command.

He said the items were worth N20.6 million, adding that they were handed over to the NDLEA for agency action in line with the synergy between the agencies.

Receiving the items, the Commander of the NDLEA, Niger State Command, Haruna K. Kwatishe, said the agency had already warned politicians against the use of hard drugs for thuggery during the forthcoming general elections.
