He said that about N107 million was collected as revenue in January while N160 million was realised in February.

He said the command had put in place stringent security measures to meet its revenue target of the year, N2.8 billion, as well as its monthly target of N239 million as directed by the national headquarters.

He said that already, well trained personnel had since been deployed to the border areas at Chikanda in Kwara and Babanna in New Bussa Local Government Area of Niger.

He said that all identified routes of smugglers had been blocked while officers were ready to prevent the illegal activities.

He solicited the support of the members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), traditional rulers as well as stakeholders in border communities to volunteer information that would enable its field officers to arrest and prosecute smugglers.

” We partner with leaders of the two major religions to educate residents about the negative effect of smuggling business on our economy.”

He explained that the approach would greatly assist in mobilising residents to offer intelligence information about the movement of smugglers.

He called on officers to continue to put in their best as hardworking ones will be rewarded .(NAN)
