The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has arrested two suspects (name withheld) who are members of a syndicate using identical plate numbers to smuggle vehicles.
The Controller of the Kwara Area Command, Kehinde Ilesanmi, disclosed this during the parade of the suspects in Ilọrin on Tuesday.
He said they would be handed over to the police, adding that the FRSC had also been alerted on the novel development. for further action.
He explained that, “A 2010 model Toyota Land cruiser with registration number, Lagos EPE-911- HH, was intercepted in June at Chikanda, Kosubosu area of Kwara State.

“Investigation revealed that the number belonged to a Toyota Hiace which heightened our curiosity. A month later, our officers intercepted a Toyota Hiace with the same number heading towards Benin Republic.
“It was later established that the two vehicles were stolen, which we are handing over to the representative of the Lagos State Police Command here today.
He added that, “But how they were able to produce two original identical numbers is what is baffling and the FRSC will unravel that.”
