The Kaduna State Government has extended the 24-hour curfew earlier imposed on two chiefdoms in Kauru and Zangon Kataf local governments to the entire area councils.
A statement issued by Commissioner of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan assured that security agencies are working to contain the situation.
The statement said that tension in the two chiefdoms started as a clash over a farmland, adding that ‘’extending the curfew is part of the necessary steps to manage the tensions and restore calm.’’
It will be recalled that the Commissioner had earlier issued a statement on Thursday, imposing a 24-hour curfew in Atyap Chiefdom of Zangon Kataf Local Government and Chawai Chiefdom in Kauru local government with immediate effect.
According to the Commissioner, community leaders had tried to ease the tension but which seems to have escalated on Thursday.
