A member of a secret cult group who the police describe as the head of the gang’s killer squad, Idris Ayinla, has been arrested while on a reprisal mission in the Victoria Island area of Lagos.
The police said the 33-year-old man had an English pistol on him when he was arrested by operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).
The police said the RRS operatives who were on patrol around Eko Hotel roundabout noticed the suspicious movement of the suspect.
A police source said, “When he was accosted, the suspect refused to stop, but he was forced to. When he was searched, the policemen found a pistol tucked under his belt along with some ammunition.

“He was arrested and taken to the RRS headquarters in Ikeja where he was interrogated. He later confessed that he was on a reprisal mission.
“The suspect said he had been detailed to neutralise a member of a rival cult gang working in Victoria Island.
“He, however, denied being an armed robber, but admitted to be a senior member of the Aiye confraternity.’’
