The Edo State Special Task Force on cultism has arrested suspected secret cult leader and 10 others over cultism.
Parading the suspects, the taskforce’s spokesperson, Chris Nehikhare, said the suspects were arrested at Auchi Polytechnic community and Benin City between August 7 and 13.
He said the taskforce headed by the Department of State Services (DSS) was created by the state government in response to increasing cult killings, which had claimed many lives across the state.
He said three of the suspects were arrested within the Auchi Polytechnic community, two at a hotel in Upper Sakponba, in Ikpoba Okha LGA while others were arrested at the Ekosodin axis of Ovia North East LGA.
Nehikhare, who is the state commissioner for information and orientation, said the suspects include high-ranking leaders and a butcher of secret cult confraternities.
He said the taskforce had a long list of targets, assuring that they will not rest until cultists are brought to justice irrespective of political, religious, ethnic or social standings in the state.
