The eight-man committee set up to review the law establishing the Modibbo Adama University of Technology has sought N10.6bn for establishment of the institution’s College of Medical Sciences and N6.8bn for upgrading of the Federal Medical Centre, Yola, to a teaching hospital.

These were part of the recommendations contained in the committee’s report submitted yesterday in Abuja to the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission, Rasheed Abubakar.

Abubakar said the NUC would look at the report and submit it to the Ministry of Education for recommendations.

The committee’s chairman, Professor Abdullahi Ribadu, while presenting the report, said the insurgency in the northeast had greatly affected access to university education of the people from the region.
