An orphanage/premier school of the Jam’iyar Matan Arewa (JMA) has been upgraded as part of efforts to revamp the historical monument which reflects the vision of its founders and their commitment to society’s well-being.
Daily Trust Saturday reports that the management of Julius Berger Nigeria PLC upgraded structures and other facilities in the premises, including renovation of the main block, administrative block, primary, junior and senior secondary sections and the main orphanage building.
It also provided the orphanage with a solar-powered borehole and a 10, 000-litre overhead tank.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony and unveiling of the JMA 60th anniversary logo on Friday in Kaduna, the National President of JMA, Hajiya Rabi Saulawa, said the association was at the forefront of the struggle to empower the Northern women economically, educationally, socially and politically.

She commended the Daily Trust Foundation, Julius Berger and other organisations for supporting the JMA orphanage.
The Executive Director, Administration, Julius Berger, Alhaji Zubairu Bayi, said over 500 direct and indirect jobs were created from the execution of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects.
