CSOs sensitize Kano communities on malaria prevention

A coalition of Civil Society Organizations working on Malaria Nutrition and Immunization, ACOMIN, has sensitized members of some communities in Kano on malaria prevention and how to access free commodities at their health facilities.

The sensitization, which commenced in February this year, is part of Catholic Relief Services (CRS), under the ongoing Global Fund Malaria Grant and will run for two years in eight local government areas.

The state chairman of the project, Dr Nura Haladu while addressing newsmen in Kano said malaria was one of the biggest threat to Nigeria and that the main focus of the project was to sensitize people on its preventive measures.

On his part, the State Programme Officer of the ACOMIN, Sheriff Abubakar said 16 CBOs were engaged to work in the project, and part of the successes they had recorded were on the areas of behavioral change and service delivery where they sensitized the health officials and the members of the communities members on ways to have good relations, adding that they engaged all the stakeholders at government level for rapid development
