The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG), Kebbi State Chapter, has submitted a petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) regarding the purported abuse of the naira by a member of the state House of Assembly, Umaru Salah Sambawa.

In a letter dated May 6, 2024, signed by its chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Muhammed, and secretary-general, Comrade Mansur Isah Guruza, the group brought to the attention of the anti-graft agency an alleged violation of Section 21 of the CBN Act 2017 on naira mutilation/abuse by Umaru Salah Sambawa.

The petition stated that, “A video clip showing how he committed the violation is hereby attached for your perusal and guidance.”

Sambawa currently represents Maiyama Local Government Constituency in the Kebbi State House of Assembly.
