Rain has not fallen in several parts of the state this year, while places such as Birnin Kudu, Kiyawa and Gwaram local government areas have recorded only three rainfalls since the beginning of the year.
A NAN correspondent who visited some farms in the areas, observed that crops have started to dry up due to a lack of water.
A farmer in Gwaram Local Government Area, Malam Udu Mai-Itace told NAN that he and other farmers had resigned their fate to God as the situation was beyond human intervention.
He said that farmers had organised special prayers for God to intervene in their predicament, adding that they were still awaiting God’s blessings for rainfall.
Malam Isa Ibrahim, another farmer in the area, said that unless the Federal Government and international donor agencies came to their aid, the state might experience food shortage this year.
