A business pitch competition tagged, “Crockslake Business Pitch Marathon”, has been launched to provide funding support to hundreds of businesses and entrepreneurs in Nigeria.

The competition, to be held in Lagos, will involve several businesses pitching their businesses with a view to ease access to finances for entrepreneurs.

Organised by US Africa Business Forum, an arm of the US Global Business Forum, the marathon has set up an incubation centre where the contest will take place, with participants interfacing with investors and potential financiers for the pitches.

The Managing Partner at US Africa Business Forum, Mayodele David, who spoke with newsmen at a press conference, stated that the competition planned to break two Guinness World Records simultaneously.

He said the concept of the Crockslake was structured around the popular American TV series, Shark Tank, which featured a panel of investors called “sharks” who decided whether to invest as entrepreneurs or make business presentations on their company or product.

He advised participants to make sure they registered with their products and companies’ names duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and ensure their tax certificates were intact.

He further said, “The beautiful part of adding the Guinness World Record to it is to give it enough publicity so that people can know this is actually happening and to show that this is where we are. We have established our incubator centre so that all the businesses will know that they have a place they can get funding from.
