Cross River State House of Assembly has summoned a former commissioner for health in the state, Dr.  Edet Ikpi, for allegedly misappropriating over N10 million meant for purchase of ambulance.
Speaker of the Assembly, John Gaul Lebo, said Ikpi and another doctor, Chris Ita, who was supposed to purchase the ambulance, should appear and make clarification.
Their invitation was based on report of the public accounts committee.
“The central procurement list made available to the committee indicates that Dr. Lawrence Henshaw memorial hospital was to be supplied with two emergency ambulances at the cost of N10.4 million. The audit observed that this transaction was not completed. The committee also confirmed that no ambulance was supplied to the hospital. The only ambulance in the hospital at the moment is the one purchased in 1998”, part of the committee report read.
