The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Polytechnics (SSANIP), Federal Polytechnic Offa branch, has expressed concern over what it described as lopsided screening of applicants for the post of rector of the institution which 32 people applied for.
Meanwhile, nine out of the 32 persons eyeing the position were interviewed in Abuja.
However, the atmosphere in the two campuses was tensed over alleged negation of the application and selection criteria contained in the vacancy ad placed in Daily Trust newspapers last year.
The union said it was illegal for the acting Rector, Dr. (Mrs) Ayo Olaosebikan, who was a candidate, to function as a member of the screening committee and also the chairman of the three-man committee that screened and cleared herself while disqualifying those that were allegedly more qualified than her.
Chairman of SSANIP, Chief Ayo Bankole, said his union was unhappy with the unfair manner the committee carried out a lopsided screening of candidates, adding that it could lead to crisis in the polytechnic.
