Crisis: Court restrains Ganduje from dissolving KACCIMA leadership

A Federal High Court sitting in Kano and presided over by Justice Jane Esienanwan Inyang has restrained the Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, from dissolving the leadership of the Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KACCIMA).

The court also restrained the governor and all other respondents in the suit from the subsequent appointment of Alhaji Lawan Sule Garo and Ambassador Muntari Gashash as Caretaker Committee of Kano Chamber of Commerce.

Daily Trust reported that the governor ordered the dissolution of the leadership following the crisis rocking the chamber.

The tenure of the leadership of Alhaji Dalhatu Abubakar as its president elapsed in October 2021 and since then the chamber has been engulfed in one crisis after the other.

Upon a motion ex-parte by counsel to Usman H Darma and the other two plaintiffs in the case, dated 14th March 2022 and filed on 21st March 2022, the Court has ordered all parties to maintain the status quo in respect of dissolving KACCIMA members or appointing any caretaker committee, pending the hearing and determination of originated summons.

Plaintiffs in the case include Usman H Darma as the first plaintiff, Umar Ismail Umar as the second plaintiff and Kano Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture as the third plaintiff.

The five defendants are Alhaji Lawan Sule Garo (first defendant), Ambassador Muntari Gashash (second defendant), Executive Governor of Kano State (third defendant), Attorney General of Kano State and Kano State Commissioner of Police as fourth and fifth respondents respectively.
