Some aggrieved members of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State have protested against the alleged imposition of candidate for the seat of the council chairman.
Daura is the hometown of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking on behalf of the aggrieved members, the state’s Chairman, Association of ex-councillors, Alhaji Ibrahim Suleiman, alleged that at the APC primaries for the councilorship and Chairmanship positions, one Alhaji Shehu Abdu was declared winner of the election, but there are moves to replace him with Bala Musa, the younger brother of Lawal Musa Daura, the former DSS boss.
He said the winner was currently being persecuted, alleging that a Commissioner from Daura emirate was behind the persecution as the successful candidate has been dragged to the state’s Criminal investigation Department (CID).
“I wish to make it clear that Alhaji Shehu Abdu was framed with the allegation of collecting money from youths in the area to secure jobs for them.
“He was detained at the state’s CID office, and presently we are discussing with our lawyers to see how we can pursue the issue.
“Unfortunately, this is happening in the President Muhammad Buhari’s LGA, and it is going to be a slap on the face of the party and it will be sending a very bad signal ahead of 2023 general elections. We are appealing to the party leaders, especially the governor to intervene so that justice can be done,” he said.
He appealed to Gov. Aminu Masari of Katsina State to, as a matter of urgency, intervene in the issue to save the party from being defeated in April council election.
Attempt to get the party’s reaction proved abortive as the telephone line of the state Party chairman did not connect at the time of filing this report.
