The Interfaith Dialogue Forum for Peace (IDFP) has urged the federal and state governments to provide jobs for the youths to prevent their recruitment into crimes.
The organisation warned that rising youth population, coupled with unemployment and urbanization, could lead to violence unless governments provide jobs and skills acquisition for the youth.

They made the call on Friday during a webinar, with the title, “Human Rights Violations and Armed Conflicts in Nigeria: The Perspective of Young People.”
The event, which was attended by over 40 participants, mainly composed of Muslims and Christians, was anchored by the IDFP co-publicity secretary; Dr (Mrs) Uzoaku J. Williams and the project officer, Hajiya Lantana Abdullahi.
The co-chairmen of the organisation; Alhaji Kunle Sanni Ishaq and Bishop Sunday Onuoha; guest speakers, Ambassador Belusochukwu Enwere and Alhaji Sani Suleiman; the discussants, Imam Shefiu Abdulkareem Majemu and Rev. Fr. Stephen Ojapah, spoke at the webinar.
The Forum, at the end of discussions, urged the government to invest in the education of youths, with free education and scholarships provided at all levels for youths, who are the greatest assets of a country.
