The Chairman, Rojenny Tourist Game Village, Oba Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Chief Rommy Ezeonwuka, has called on the federal government to build additional correctional centres to accommodate more criminals arising from lack of jobs in the country.
Ezeonwuka made the call on Friday while conducting journalists round the tourist game village.
He said the high rate of unemployment among the youth was threatening peace in the country, and that it may snowball into a serious crisis if not addressed urgently.
“Government must build more prison yards to cage the criminals that will soon take over the land because of lack of jobs,” he said.
Ezeonwuka, therefore, advised the government to create jobs for the teeming youths to avoid violent agitations across the country.
He also urged both the federal and state governments to plan for the looming population explosion in Nigeria.
“I have proposed to the authorities to introduce skill acquisition subjects in our school, instead of non-productive theoretical subjects that are not working,” he added.
