Bandits have attacked a ranch which is few meters away from Sultan Abubakar International Airport in Sokoto State.
According to the Sokoto State Police Command, the attack took place in the wee hours of Tuesday.
The farm is located along Sokoto-Bodinga, just five kilometers away from the state’s capital.
There was not report of any casualty, but the owner of the farm, Abdullahi S. Adiya, said more than 200 cows were rustled by the attackers.
He added that, a large number of Rams and sheep were also stolen by the bandits who were armed with sophisticated weapons.
According to Adiya, the animals were marked for sale during the forthcoming Eid-el-Kabir festival.
“I left the farm a little after midnight and went home only to be called this morning that my farm was attacked and the cows and sheep we marked for sale were all rustled.”
“I rushed to the farm but the only explanation I got from the security men was that they were on alert till 3am and, only discovered herds of cows were stolen from the farm this morning,” he said
However, some of the animals were later found wandering in a nearby bush.
When contacted the spokesman of the Sokoto State Police Command, DSP Sanusi Abubakar, confirmed the attack but said they had not been officially briefed.
