In a bid to consolidate on its societal development initiative, Promasidor Nigeria Limited, has, in partnership with the National Examination Council (NECO), invited entries for the 2016 Cowbellpedia Secondary School Mathematics TV Quiz show.
The yearly competition, which has gone online, would be conducted by NECO in order reach to participants across the country.
Head of Marketing, Promasidor, Festus Tettey, who announced this recently in Lagos, said the competition, which is free for all applicants, is open to secondary schools (both public and private) students between ages 10 and 18 who are attending on full-time basis.
Each school is required to present their best 10 candidates, comprising of five junior secondary school students and five senior secondary school students, irrespective of religion, tribe or state of origin.
This year’s competition will be in two stages, the qualifying written examination and television quiz show.
Interested applicants for this year’s edition should go to www.cowbellpedia.ng and follow the link for online registration. The stage one examination will be conducted by the NECO on Saturday, March 19, 2016.
Tetteh said schools will need to save draft information for five candidates before they can submit their registration. “If your school is a mixed school, at least, two of the candidates must be female or you won’t be able to complete the registration,” he stated.
The winner of this year’s competition will go home with a cash prize of N1 million, a medal, a trophy and an all-expense paid vacation. The first and the second runner-up will take N750,000 and N500,000 respectively home, while the teachers will be awarded N400,000.
There will also be a plaque, mathematics textbooks and a desktop computer for the winners.
Managing Director of Promasidor Nigeria Limited, Mr. Olivier Thiry explained that Promasidor has taken a strategic decision in this year’s edition to bring all mathematics intervention activities by Cowbell under one umbrella, Cowbellpedia.
