Abubakar Suleman Gummi (PDP, Zamfara) said: “You know they said the second wave of COVID-19 is deadlier and spreads fast. So, all measures to minimise its spread must be taken and our suspension of plenary for only Tuesdays may be one of them.
“Our allowances were not cut, we were paid. It has anything to do with financial constraints.”
Similarly, Rep. Mukhtar Ahmed (APC, Kaduna) said the decision was adopted “as an additional precautionary measure to protect ourselves and minimise physical interactions which will equally reduce the risk.”
Both chambers of the National Assembly hold plenary on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, and reserve other days for committee sittings, oversight visits and other legislative functions.
