Yobe State Prevention and Control Committee of COVID-19 has refuted a claim, listing the state among the novel coronavirus high-risk places not to visit.
The chairman of the committee, who is the Deputy Governor of the state, Idi Barde Gubana, during a review meeting on the second wave of the virus, said the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19’s statement was misquoted, insisting that no travel advisory was ever issued against Yobe.
The state Commissioner for Health Dr Muhammad Lawan Gana said the main issue focused on testing, stressing that Yobe was among the few states that committed its resources to establish molecular testing centre even before receiving any support from the federal government.
