The Speaker House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, has called on Nigerians to support the federal government in its efforts to deliver and vaccinate its citizens against COVID-19.
In a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Lanre Lasisi, Gbajabiamila during the National Flag-off of Covid-19 Vaccination in Nigeria, on Friday, also appealed to the media to pass accurate information about the virus and the vaccines to the public.

According to him, the COVID-19 vaccination was an “epical” moment in the history of the country.
He noted that Nigeria has begun the journey to fight a pandemic which ravaged and changed the lifestyles as well as socio-economic wellbeing of its citizens in the last one year.
“This is the time for us to rally behind the government. Like the Secretary to the Government of the Federation has said, the virus knows no creed, knows no religion, knows no ethnicity, knows no sex and knows no age,” he said.
The Speaker assured that the National Assembly will support the federal government to deliver more vaccine doses to the country soon to expand the vaccination beyond the first 4 million doses.
He cautioned Nigerians against playing politics with the vaccination and urged the media to support the government on its policies to ensure that the right decisions are always taken.
Dr. Cyprian Ngom, a physician managing one of the treatment centres in the Federal Capital Territory, made history as the first Nigerian to take the Covid-19 vaccine.
It would be recalled that Nigeria received the first batch of about 4 million Oxford/AstraZeneca jab Covid-19 vaccines on March 2, 2021 and launched the national vaccination against the virus on Friday.
