Speaking at the event, the Head of Nursing Services, State House, Abuja, Dr. Habiba Ahmed, said records and reports showed that many people were yet to understand the essence of handwashing as one of the most important measures to stop the spread of the virus.

According to her, using face mask and hand sanitiser were strong measures to curb the spread of COVID-19, and that hand washing remained one of the best options.

Dr. Ahmed said, “We talk and emphasise handwashing because the hand remains one of the most used parts of the body. Proper handwashing is one of the best ways to stop the spread of the coronavirus also known as COVID-19 and other transmittable diseases.”

The Chief Imam of Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society (AIS) and FCT Coordinator of IDFP, Sheik Fuad Adeyemi, said the one-day demonstration/sensitisation and distribution of protective items to the residents of the two communities was part of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the FCT.

Sheik Adeyemi said, “We are also glad that the Emir of Jiwa, Alhaji Musa Idris, is doing his best; leading the people to curb the spread of the virus.

The Country Expert of KAICIID and Technical Adviser to IDFP, Dr. Joseph Atang, urged the people to prioritise hygiene and observe the various government guidelines to curb the virus.
