The Governor of Lagos State and Incident Commander, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Saturday, granted permission to social clubs and recreational centers to reopen in the state.
Sanwo-Olu, who disclosed this during a briefing at the State House, Marina, said only those social clubs and recreational centers that have registered trustees were granted the permission to open on the condition that they have applied for and obtained a Provisional Safety Compliance Certificate through the registration portal of the Lagos State Safety Commission.

The Federal Government of Nigeria had declared a total lockdown in Lagos in March following the spread of coronavirus in the country.
However, the country is currently easing the lockdown to allow business to reopen.
“I must put on record here that we are sympathetic to the plight of business owners, particularly in the hospitality and tourism sectors.
“We are still reviewing the permissible opening dates for these businesses and will advise on this during the month of September.
“For the avoidance of doubt, all event centers, bars, lounges, night clubs, spas, beaches, cinemas, gyms and game arcades remain closed for now,” Sanwo-Olu stressed.
He urged all civil servants in the state’s unified public service system to comply with prevailing guidelines and roster schedules issued by the Head of Service and/or their MDAs.
Commenting on the reopening of the international airspace, Sanwo-Olu said that Lagos state was working assiduously with the Federal Ministry of Aviation and NCDC to put in place robust and adequate measures that will continue to guarantee the safety and well-being of the people in the light of renewed international air-travel.
“In the course of this week, we will be visiting the International Airport to gauge the level of preparedness and other ancillary matters,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu disclosed that the state modeling shows that all efforts at responding to the pandemic is achieving the desired goal of flattening the curve as there is a consistent decline in the rate of confirmed COVID-19 infections in the State.
He, therefore, appealed to Lagosians to continue to adhere to the guidelines as outlined by health authorities.
