The Kwara State Government has said it will shut down schools in the state from Monday, March 23rd.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaye, said it was part of the efforts and measures to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
It urge people in the state to always maintain the highest level of hygiene and remain calm.
“Adhere to all safety measures earlier announced by the Kwara State Ministry of Health and other national health bodies,” the statement said.
Earlier today, governors from nine northern states in Nigeria agreed to shut down schools for 30 days in the region, as part of measures to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
The governors said the measure shall be taken by each of the states, in consultation with the national examination bodies.
The nine northern states are; Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kwara, Niger, Sokoto, and Zamfara.
