The Kebbi State Government has commenced training of 2,212 primary and secondary schools teachers on Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC)’s guidelines for safe gathering and prevention of exposure to COVID-19, following the reopening of schools for exiting students.
The Executive Secretary of the State Universal Basic Education Board, Fatima Abubakar Udulu, made this known on Saturday at the opening ceremony of the training in Birnin Kebbi.

She said, of the teachers receiving the training, there were 1,901 Head Teachers, 112 Junior Secondary Schools principals, 115 teachers and 84 supervisors.
She pointed out that the training is in collaboration with the State Task Force on COVID-19 Control, adding that it will commence with 15 master trainers, who were expected to cascade same down the ladder.
Udulu said that the training for all the participants will last for seven days.
“For ensuring absolute safety control measures for our students and teachers against COVID-19 pandemic, SUBEB in collaboration with the State task force on COVID-19 control, is giving training to 1,901 head teachers, 112 JSS principals, 115 teachers and 84 supervisors,” she said.
In his remark, the chairman of the State Task Force on COVID-19 control, Jafar Mohammed, said the essence of the training was to ensure enforcement for the stipulated safety guidelines for the control of COVID-19 pandemic amongst the pupils, students and the teachers while in schools.
The federal government had given the nod for exiting students to resume school ahead of their examinations.
