At least 2,300 young people drawn from all 23 local government areas of Benue State have received N138 million as stipend for their three-months engagement on the COVID-19 hand wash program.
The funds were made available at the weekend as part of the state government collaboration with the federal government.
State Commissioner of Water Resources and Environment, Dr. Godwin Oyiwona, who confirmed that the recipients each got N60,000 for the duration of the engagement, urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the money.
He said that the beneficiaries underwent training in March this year for the programme which spanned through a period of three months.
The commissioner thanked Governor Samuel Ortom for facilitating the program while he congratulated the Benue youth for the opportunity to better their lots.
