COVID-19: Group partners media houses to name, shame defaulters

The Anap Foundation COVID-19 Think Tank has urged media houses to boycott events or deny media coverage to people or organisations that do not comply with the Health Protection Regulations.

The foundation, popularly called the Anap Think Tank, in a statement jointly signed by its chairman and vice-chairman, Atedo N. A. Peterside and Abubakar Siddique Mohammed, respectively said the move was in furtherance of its objectives to promote behavioural change around the management of the pandemic and ensuring effective stakeholder response to COVID-19.

Several prominent people were among the 1,632 people that have died from COVID-19 in Nigeria.

The group said the COVID-19 Health Protection Regulations (2021) is detailed and if adhered to, will help in protecting Nigerians from the second wave and the more infectious strains of the virus.

The Anap Think Tank said the involvement of media houses under the Name and Shame Initiative will highlight the non-compliance of newsmakers by not covering events or denying media coverage of events where participants do not comply with the Health Protection Regulations and spotlighting defaulters in the media.
