A non-governmental organisation, Musa Halilu Ahmed Foundation, has donated protective materials and kits to staff of Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and residents of  Ikeja, Somolu and Surulere areas in Lagos state.

The donations include hundreds of hand sanitisers and face masks.

According to the group, the donations became essential as part of its goal to promote good health and wellbeing for the underserved in Nigeria and to support government’s efforts in curbing the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the country.

“Never has it been more critical to prepare, provide and protect underserved communities in Lagos state from the lingering disease burden.

“The choice of donating protective kits to frontline responders and marginalised residents was a deliberate decision made by the foundation in a bid to consolidate government’s effort in halting the spread before it becomes an uncontrollable epidemic”, said the Founder and Executive Director of the Foundation, Alhaji Musa Halilu Ahmed, the Dujima Adamawa I.

In his remarks, Prof. Adetokunbo Fabamwo, who led the management team of LASUTH to receive the donations lauded the foundation, saying government should be supported to fight the COVID-19 outbreak.

He urged other organisations to emulate the noble gesture of the foundation to nip the disease in the bud.

Also speaking, the foundation’s team lead, Sam Ejiwunmi, urged all Nigerians to abide with the precautionary measures announced by relevant government’s agencies at all time and stay safe.
