The Gombe State Government said it has vaccinated over 115,000 persons in the ongoing COVID-19 vaccination exercise in the state.
The Commissioner for Health, Dr Habu Dahiru, disclosed this during a press conference at the weekend while giving updates on the exercise.
Dr Dahiru said the figure represented only 7.12 per cent of the targeted 50 per cent of the state’s population, noting that the state was still lagging behind in the acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccines.
He said, “As of December 23, about 115,000 people had their first jab while about 53,000 persons completed the required two doses of either Moderna or AstraZeneca vaccines.
The commissioner said the state had an adequate stock of the vaccines for the public and urged residents of the state to get vaccinated and protect themselves against the virus.
He added that booster doses would soon be available for those who completed their scheduled doses of vaccination.
