The Gombe State Government has treated and discharged 20 COVID-19 patients after they tested negative twice.

The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Ahmed Gana, who disclosed this yesterday in Gombe, said 10 patients each from isolation centres at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, Kwadon and Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe were reunited with their respective families.

According to him, the patients were discharged after their test results from the NCDC laboratory in Abuja returned negative.

He therefore urged their families and members of the public not to stigmatise them because they contracted the virus.

The commissioner stated that the state government has procured PCR machine to start testing for the virus in the state, adding they would however await accreditation and approval from NCDC before testing begins.

Dr Gana added that 13 cases were recorded this week, bringing the total confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state to 109.
