The Gombe State Government has said it is targeting 1.9million eligible residents of the state with the COVID-19 vaccines before the end of March.

Kuna said only 15, 945 had so far been vaccinated with the booster dose.

He explained that the number of persons vaccinated in the state represented 12 per cent for the first dose and six per cent for the second dose.

On his part, the Deputy Governor of the state, Dr Manassah Daniel Jatau, said the meeting was convened to gather inputs from participants on how to improve the rate of the vaccination.

The state’s Commissioner for Information and Culture, Julius Ishaya Lepes, advocated massive sensitisation to help change the narrative by informing the people on the importance of vaccination while assuring citizens that the vaccines were safe.
