The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria has suspended the national aviation conference slated for next month in Abuja.
The suspension was informed by the ravaging COVID-19 which the World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared a pandemic.
General Manager, Corporate Affairs of FAAN, Henrietta Yakubu (Mrs.) disclosed the suspension in a statement on Tuesday.
She said: “This is due to the need to adhere to safety precautions in the face of the Coronavirus presently spreading across nations globally.
“The World Health Organization recently declared COVID-19 a global pandemic and advised that as much as possible, individuals and organizations should avoid clustered gatherings to prevent the spread of the virus.”
She said a new date for the conference will be announced as soon as possible.
“The Authority regrets any inconvenience this postponement might have caused you,” the statement added.
Nigeria presently has one case of COVID-19, an Italian who came into Nigeria from Milan.
Authorities said the Nigerian who contracted the virus from the Italian has been discharged while the suspected patient of the (COVID-19) in Enugu State tested negative to the virus.
