COVID-19: Edo clears 111 suspected cases, 380 contacts

Edo State has exited 491 people, comprising 111 persons of interest and 380 line-listed contacts who have completed the compulsory 14-day follow up and tested negative.

Edo health commissioner Patrick Okundia said all active cases were being managed at different isolations centres across the state and are responding well to treatment.

Edo has recorded a total 593 suspected cases and 65 confirmed cases spread across nine local government areas of the state.

Okundia, who disclosed this in Benin City on Thursday, said 10 people who have tested negative twice to the virus have been discharged.

“The remaining cases are receiving treatment at Stella Obasanjo Hospital Isolation Centre, four at University of Benin Teaching Hospital, and three at Irrua Specialist Hospital,” he said.

He however noted that compliance with the government’s stay-at-home and social distancing directives, as well as other precautionary measures, are non-negotiable in the fight against the spread of the virus.
