COVID-19: C’ttee arraigns 126 defaulters, impounds 385 vehicles

The COVID-19 Enforcement Committee on the restriction of movement in Akwa Ibom State headed by the state’s Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, said it has so far arraigned 126 defaulters and impounded 385 vehicles.

A statement issued yesterday in Uyo by the command’s spokesman, Nudam Fredrick, said 336 tricycles and 474 motorcycles have also been impounded.

He said the arrests and arraignment were made between April 20 and 24 across the three senatorial districts of the state by a special court step up for that purpose.

He added that the state’s borders both on land and water have remained shut and were being monitored by security agents and the state’s medical teams carrying out checks on persons on essential duties before they are allowed into the state.

The CP urged the people to abide by the directives of the restriction order and work with security agencies to maintain law and order during the lockdown.
