COVID-19: Confirmed cases hit 97, as FG releases N10bn grant to Lagos

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Saturday night confirmed eight new cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) disease in the country.

“Eight new cases of #COVID19 have been reported in Nigeria; 2 in FCT, 4 in Oyo, 1 in Kaduna and 1 in Osun State.

“As at 10:40 pm 28th March, there are 97 confirmed cases of #COVID19 reported in Nigeria with 1 death,” the centre said.

Meanwhile, the federal government has released N10billion grant to Lagos State to increase its capacity to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire made the disclosure Friday in Abuja while providing updates on the disease. Lagos leads the number of confirmed cases in the country having recorded 59 cases since the outbreak.

He said another N5 billion special intervention fund has been released to the NCDC to equip, expand and provide personnel to its facilities and laboratories across the country.
