The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, ACPN, has stated that it would train 200 Community Pharmacists on administration of COVID-19 vaccines during the mandatory continuing professional development programme.

This was disclosed by the National Chairman of ACPN, Dr Samuel Adekola, in a pre-conference press briefing for ACPN’s 40th anniversary celebration and Annual National Scientific Conference.

Dr Adekola stated that the vaccination training is to equip members of the association to be able to provide vaccination services to Nigeria’s teeming populace in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

“In light of this, we have assembled a world class Faculty all the way from Mercer University, as well as other accomplished practitioners in the United States of America to blend with seasoned professionals pooled from both the regulatory bodies and the academia in Nigeria to deliver a very impactful training.  The online component of the training has commenced and will run till August 26 while the practical hands-on aspect will be held on August 30 in Abeokuta,” he said.

He added that this year’s Scientific Conference themed, ‘Abuja Declaration: Equipping Pharmacists for Universal Health Coverage’, is epochal as it builds on the gains of last year’s advocacy conference which was centred on optimizing primary healthcare delivery in Nigeria.
