COVID-19: 320 trained ‘women’ on how to use of face masks, sanitizer

The Kebbi State Government has trained 320 women on how to make facemasks and sanitizer with a view to making COVID-19 protection gears affordable to all.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Women Affairs, Hajiya Aisha Maikurata, who made this known on Saturday while addressing journalists ahead of the International Women’s Day Commemoration in Birnin Kebbi, said the training was part of government’s effort at empowering women in the state.

Maikurata opined that her ministry had supported people with disability and orphans by training them on different skills, adding that more support programmes for women in the state was in the offing.

The permanent secretary said the 2021 International Women’s Day would be celebrated with the theme, ‘Women in Leadership Achieving Annual Future in a COVID-19 world’, adding that women in the state have been fully mobilized for the empowerment programme.

“Another set of 140 women have also been trained on tailoring and sewing, 40 on cosmetology, beads and other skills across the 21 local government area of the state,” she said.
