The development Research and Projects Centre (dRPC), with support from Open Society Foundation has begun disbursement of funds to schools that have successfully qualified to access cash support under the centre’s direct school support for activities project aimed at improving National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) outcomes.
Speaking during the presentation of the first installment of N100,000 to each awarded school, head of the dRPC team, Alhaji Abdulhamid Inuwa, revealed that the award was aimed at supporting after school hours coaching; purchase of past question papers and/or textbooks; purchase of COVID-19 protection materials such as hand sanitisers; tables and chairs for effective observation of COVID-19 protocol, as well as improve students’ transition to the world of skill-work in order to mitigate the negative impact of the global pandemic.
He added that over 100 schools have applied nationwide and that 29 schools have been chosen, stressing that each of the 29 schools will be awarded with cash that ranges from N300, 000 to N1million which will be disbursed to the successful schools in 3 installments.
The three successfully chosen schools in Kano are Mairo Tijjani Girls’ Science and Technical School, Government Technical School, Tiga, and Government Technical School, Bagauda.
