A total of 10,158 underprivileged households have benefitted from the COVID-19 palliatives distributed in Funtua zone of Katsina State.
The Deputy Speaker, Katsina State House of Assembly, Engr. Shehu Dalhatu Tafoki, who is the head of the distribution committee in the zone, said six persons were selected from each of the 1,693 polling units in 11 LGAs of the zone.
Hon. Tafoki was speaking at Musawa town over the weekend at the flag-off of the distribution of the food items which, he said, was supported by Private Sector Coalition Against COVID-19 (CA COVID).
He said each of the selected households would get 10kg of rice, 5kg of sugar, 10Kg of Masa flour, one carton of spaghetti, two cartons of noodles and 1kg of iodized salt.
One of the beneficiaries, Jamila Abdullahi, a widow said, “My husband died and left me with three girls, and life has not been easy since then. But I thank God for this assistance and I thank Katsina government and anyone that contributed towards getting this.”
Another beneficiary, Malam Abdurrahman Sani, said the support could not have come at a better time as his wife recently put to bed and it was tough to get what to feed them.
