A Federal High Court in Kano has ordered the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Kano State government not to demolish structures under power lines in parts of the state.
The court, presided over by Justice Usman Na Abba, ordered the authorities involved to maintain status quo until further pronouncement at the next sitting.
City & Crime had reported how residents of Gaida area of Kumbotso LGA in Kano had organized a prayer session against a notice of two weeks issued to them by TCN to vacate their houses, saying it will demolish all buildings across power lines in the state.
During the prayer session, attended by men, women and children, the people said they were not paid compensation and urged the government to help them as they have nowhere else to live.

The TCN, had last week, insisted that nothing would stop it from demolishing the houses, adding that they have since paid compensation but the people refused to vacate the places.
However, following a suit filed by some of the affected communities challenging the TCN and Kano government, the court ordered a stop to the demolition.
