Delivering judgement on Tuesday, the state Chief Judge, Justice Nathan Musa said the prosecution had convinced the court that Grim had committed the offence and the court, therefore, sentenced him to death by hanging.

Prosecutors told the court that the convict had thrown his wife to the ground before using a pestle to hit her in the head, causing her death on 24th March 2018.

Daily Trust learnt that the couple had lived separately since January 2018 following irreconcilable differences.

When the deceased fell in love with another man and wanted to remarry, it was gathered that she asked for a divorce letter, a development that irked the estranged husband.

Daily Trust further learnt that instead of granting her request, the wrestler who invited his estranged wife, Kwalla to come over to his house to collect the letter pleaded with her to return to him, a proposal she out rightly rejected.

An argument was said to have ensued, resulting in him hitting her with a pestle.

The prosecution counsel, Salihu Muhammad lauded the judgement as a triumph of justice.

Counsel to the convict, F.A. Ogbe, a Chief Legal Officer with the Nigeria Legal Aid Council said the judgement was well considered.
