Court restraints royal families from contesting for Akinrun vacant stool

The Osun State High Court sitting in Ikirun has granted an ex parte order restraining the Obaara and Adedeji ruling houses from contesting the vacant Akinrun stool.

The court also restrained the Ikinrun kingmakers, local government and the Osun State Government from accepting any nomination outside the Gboleru Ruling House.

Justice A.A. G. Onibokun granted the order as sought by Gboleru Ruling House which is next in turn to produce the next king according to the rotation arrangement in the town.

Justice Onibokun held that the 12 defendants including the heads of Obaara and Adedeji ruling houses in the suit should exercise restraint pending the determination of the case.

“Leave is granted to the Plaintiffs/Applicants restraining the 1st and 2nd defendants and the entire members of the Oba Ara and Adedeji ruling houses respectively, from participating in the process of the nomination of the person to fill the vacant stool of Akirun within the life of this interim injunction. 

Hearing in the motion on notice has been adjourned till December 1.
