Court remands plumber over theft

An Abuja Magistrates’ Court sitting in Dutsen has remanded a 42-year-old plumber, Abubakar Adaji, in prison over alleged theft.

The police charged the defendant of Galadimawa village, Abuja, with joint act, cheating and thef, the offences he denied.

The Magistrate, Abdullahi Ilelah, adjourned the matter until September 30 for hearing.

Earlier, the prosecuting counsel, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that the complainant, Abah Martins reported the matter at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Dei-dei on Aug.31.

Olanipekun alleged that the defendant conspired with two others at large and cheated the complainant of cement worth N1.6 million sometime in 2023.

The offence, he said, contravened Sections 79, 322 and 287 of the Penal Code (NAN)
